As summer comes to an end and the clouds return to Oregon, hunting season makes it’s comeback! Hunting season in Oregon runs from late August through the end of the year, with peak hunting season in August – October.
When is Black Bear Season in Oregon?
August 1 – December 31
Black Bear season begins on August 1 and a general season fall tag is required for black bear hunting statewide.
When is Cougar Season in Oregon?
January 1 – December 31
Cougar season in Oregon begins on January 1 and runs through December 31, or until quotas have been met, whichever comes first. Each person hunting will need a general season cougar tag as well as a valid hunting license.
When is Deer Season in Oregon?
Eastern Oregon Archery
As of 2021, Eastern Oregon Archery is solely controlled hunts. There are a limited number of controlled hunt tags available through a lottery system. You must apply in advance.
Western Oregon Archery
Archery season in Western Oregon runs from August 28 to September 26. A general archery season Western Oregon tag is required.
Western Oregon Any Legal Weapon
Deer season starts on October 2 and runs through November 5 for all legal weapons. Oregon requires a general “Any Legal Weapon Western Oregon tag”
When is Elk Season in Oregon?
West Cascade Any Legal Weapon
Elk season in the West Cascades for any legal weapon is from November 6 – November 12 and requires a General West Cascade Tag.
Rocky Mountain Any Legal Weapon
Rocky Mountain Any Legal Weapon season is from November 6 – November 14. A General Eastern Oregon Rocky Mountain Second Season tag is required.
Coast Bull Elk Any Legal Weapon
First season: November 13 – November 16 (General Western Oregon Coast First Season Tag required)
Second season: November 20 – November 26 (General Western Oregon Coast Second Season Tag required)
Western/Eastern Archery
Archery season for Elk in both Eastern and Western Oregon runs from August 28 through September 26 and requires a General Archery Season Tag
