6 Things to do Near Portland this Spring

Looking for some fun things to do in the Portland area this spring? Here are a few great options, whether you like to get outside and explore, or are just looking for a great spot to enjoy a spring brunch.

Cherry Blossoms at Tom McCall Waterfront Park

If you’ve ever driven through downtown Portland during the springtime, you’ve likely seen the beautiful rows of cherry blossom trees near the waterfront. Cherry blossoms come and go QUICKLY, so don’t wait to go visit Tom McCall Waterfront Park once you see the cherry blossoms begin to bloom! Peak cherry blossom season varies from year to year, so it’s tough to know exactly when the cherry blossoms will be in full blossom, but the best time is typically mid-March to early-April. The 100 cherry blossom trees that were planted in 1990 as a gift from the Japanese Grain Importers Association are a staple of springtime in Portland.

Portland Farmers Market

Did you know the PSU Farmers Market is open year-round? Spend your Saturday roaming the South Park Blocks and picking up some fresh produce, flowers and more. The PSU Farmers Market is open from 9 AM – 2 PM November through March and  8:30 AM – 2 PM April through October.

Brunch

You can’t go wrong with brunch. Jam on Hawthorne has been voted “Portland’s Best Brunch” for the last 3 years – plus, they have mimosa buckets (yes, you heard that right) available. Hey Love, located in the Jupiter Next hotel, has great brunch options as well as fun cocktails and an overall beautiful, plant and disco ball themed aesthetic. You’ve never had toast quite like Kimura. This restaurant specializes in Shokupan toast with a huge variety of flavors, from sweet to savory.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

If you’ve never attended the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, it’s a must-visit. The tulip festival is open from March 18 to May 1st, 9:00-6:00 weekdays and 8:00-7:00 on weekends. Enjoy 40 acres of tulips and stop by the Wooden Shoe Vineyards Tasting Room and gift shop!
