7 Local PDX Businesses to Check Out This Year

There’s no shortage of great locally owned businesses in Portland. Here are a few up-and-coming businesses to check out this year!

Dame

Right in our neighborhood, Dame is located about 2 miles from Gartner’s off Killingsworth. This locally operated restaurant serves seasonal favorites and a lengthy natural wine list. Dame also offers daily wine delivery 7 days a week and bottle shop pick up every day besides Wednesdays. Make a reservation here!

Steeplejack Brewing

This unique Portland brewery opened over the summer and it is not one to disappoint. Located in an 111 year old church, Steeplejack’s vaulted ceilings and ornate designs won’t disappoint. This family-friendly, pub-style brewery offers a wide selection of craft beer, wine, spirits and food. They are open 7 days a week and have trivia every Tuesday and a kid-friendly “Monday Matinee” on Mondays from 3-5, featuring an animated movie and food and drink specials!

Little Rituals

This charming shop near Sellwood opened last spring! Little Rituals has tons of cute gifts, plants, hand-made jewelry and more! They feature makers from the PNW and beyond. Check out their instagram and stop by Tuesday-Sunday during shop hours!

Woodsman Tavern

That’s right – the Woodsman Tavern is back! This tavern off 46th and Division closed in 2018, but re-opened in December of 2021.  The Woodsman Tavern is currently open Wednesday through Sunday with happy hour daily. Their dinner menu includes options such as a butcher burger, rib eye steak, west coast oysters and more. Reservations are required for parties of 6-8.

Ball Was Life

If you’re a basketball fan, you have to check out Ball Was Life on 34th and Hawthorne. This unique shop is basketball inspired, with vintage basketball apparel, cards and collectables and more. They have tons of vintage NBA gear as well as new apparel items and shoes. Check out the NBA Barbie wall and the plantsketballs near the front door.

Deadstock Coffee

Deadstock is a sneaker themed coffee shop serving “Snob-Free Coffee”. Portland is the sneaker capital of the world, so a sneaker themed coffee shop just makes sense. Stop by and grab a fresh coffee, or grab a bag of their variety of coffee beans and brew your own cup at home. Deadstock is open 7 days a week.

Alright, now that the new year is upon us, the gyms will be flooded with resolutioners. Skip the big-name gyms and check out this local gym – PDX Fitness Zone!
