10 Great Places to Camp in Oregon

Camping season is back! If you’ve spent the winter indoors and are itching to get outside and enjoy the Pacific Northwest, there are plenty of beautiful campgrounds to choose from. From camp sites along the Oregon coast to down the Columbia River Gorge, here are a few great places for tent camping, RV camping and more.

Camping at The Oregon Coast

Nehalem Bay

This beautiful campground is located on a 4 mile sandpit. The campground itself is just a sand dune away from the beach. Whether you want to pitch a tent, or rent one of the 18 yurts onsite, you can’t go wrong with Nehalem Bay. Tillicum Beach Campground

If you’re looking for a campsite with a beautiful view of the ocean, look no further. Located just 4 miles north of Yachats, Tillicum Beach Campground hosts 61 campsites with beachfront views. Tillicum Beach is a popular spot for whale watching, surfing and more. The campground has 18 sites with water and electricity hookups and tends to be very popular in the summer, so making reservations in advance is a great idea. Sunset Bay State Park

Sunset Bay State Park is located just outside Coos Bay, Oregon and the views are outstanding. If you’re looking for a picturesque place to camp, definitely check out Sunset Bay State Park. The campground not only has sites for tent camping and RV camping, but also features pet-friendly yurts that you can rent by the night! Champoeg State Heritage Area

This state park located between Newberg and St.Paul offers year-round RV camping as well as campsites with yurts and cabins available. Pack up your bikes and enjoy the 4 miles of paved bike trails, check out the 18-hole disc golf course, or visit the fishing dock located along the Willamette River. Silver Falls State Park

If you’ve never walked behind a waterfall and felt the fresh Pacific Northwest water hit your skin, you’re truly missing out. Silver Falls State Park showcases a beautiful 177-foot waterfall with a trail that allows you to walk directly behind the falls. Silver Falls State Park offers 48 campsites with electrical and water hookups (18 of which are open year-round), as well as 43 tent sites and 14 cabins. Meditation Point Campground – Timothy Lake

This quaint, unique campground is perfect for those who truly enjoy exploring the outdoors. The campground can only be accessed by boat, bike or hiking trail. There are 7 campsites in total equipped for tent camping only. Enjoy the beautiful views of Timothy Lake with 5 of your closest friends (campsites are limited to 6 people per site). Trillium Lake

Trillium Lake is truly one of the most beautiful views in Oregon. At this campground, you can wake up to a beautiful view of Mt.Hood reflecting on the water of Trillium Lake. Swim, fish, sunbathe or paddleboard in the beautiful 63-acre lake all while taking in the gorgeous view of Mt.Hood. The campground has dozens of single-family and double-family campsites suited for both tent and RV camping. This campsite is pretty popular among Oregonians, and is only open for certain months of the year, so make your reservations as far in advance as possible! Columbia River Gorge Camping

Memaloose State Park

There are no shortages of beautiful locations and views along the Columbia River Gorge. Memaloose State Park, located 11 miles west of The Dalles, hosts over 100 campsites for you to enjoy during spring through early fall. Enjoy the beautiful blooming wildflowers during the spring and take in the incredible celestial views at night. Memaloose has 43 full hookup sites and 66 tent sites. Viento State Park

This year-round campsite nestled in the Columbia River Gorge offers 56 electrical sites with water as well as 18 tent sites with water nearby. Enjoy the nearby hiking trails which lead you to a handful of small streams and the Columbia River. Panther Creek

This campground has both reserved sites as well as first-come-first-served sites from spring until early fall. The campground is walking distance to Panther Creek, and is just four miles from the beautiful Panther Creek Falls. There are 31 campsites total, with a handful of premium sites that are creekside.
