There’s nothing quite like a warm bowl of soup on a cold winter day. Our homemade Gartner’s bean soup makes dinner easy – all of the beans and lentils are pre-portioned for you. Here’s a quick recipe for our famous bean soup.
Ingredients:
- Gartner’s bean soup mix
- 1 large Gartner’s ham hock or stew meat
- 1 large can of tomatoes
- 1 large onion, copped
- 1 T. chili powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Optional:
- Parsley
- Lemon juice
- One clove of garlic
Instructions:
- Mix beans and wash thoroughly
- Put in a large kettle, cover with plenty of water and soak overnight
- Drain, add two quarts of water and a Gartner’s ham hock, or small chunks of stew meat, and salt to taste
- Simmer slowly for 3 to 3.5 hours, covered. Stir occasionally
- Add can of tomatoes, onion, chili powder, salt and pepper
- Simmer for another 30 minutes & enjoy!
